God's Grace: Top Five

If you struggle with deep feelings of unworthiness, insecurity, depression, and/or loneliness, understanding God's grace can be a soothing balm to your soul. If you have been abused or traumatized, God's love and grace can be incredibly difficult to internalize. Here are some recommended resources for understanding the grace of God.

All of Grace

Charles Spurgeon

This book is worth multiple reads. He gives memorable illustrations and reminds the reader frequently, "Christ died for the ungodly." - Romans 5:6

By Grace Alone

Sinclair Ferguson

All of Ferguson's books are highly recommended. He has a deep grasp of the nature of the Holy Spirit and the book of John. Be amazed at God's grace.

Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written

John Piper

Listen to Piper's complete sermon series on the book of Romans, 154 hours worth of sermons (available on Audible). You will not be the same afterwards.

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

Jonathan Edwards

Listening to Max McLean's rendition of the most famous sermon ever preached is soothing to my soul. I listen any time I am taking myself too seriously and find tremendous comfort and relief in Edwards' words. I once played it for a friend and afterwards, she looked at me with wide eyes and said in a reverent voice, "Wow, it really is all God."

Walking with God through Pain and Suffering

Timothy Keller

The doctrine of suffering is an important one for the wounded and broken child of God, especially one who has suffered abuse and trauma. Even decades later, we may be carrying it with us. How can we walk closely with God through the valleys of life?
